Judy Woodworth and Mary Sue Suit, 1st Place IQA Quilt Festival Houston

In 2007 Judy won five judged awards and two teacher’s awards at MQS in Kansas, including 2nd in the Theme, and 2nd in the Art category and 1st in the Fabric challenge. Judy won 6 awards at the 2006 Machine Quilter’s Showcase including 1st Place in the Bread and Butter Category (teamed with Mary Sue Suit), 1st Place in the Fashion Show, and 2nd place in wearable art, and 2nd Place in Innovative whole cloth. In previous years at MQS she has also won a 1st place, 2nd place, and two honorable mentions, and numerous Teachers’ awards. Judy has won Best of Show in regional shows, and three of her customers have won Best of Show honors with her quilting.
This year Mary Sue Suit and Judy teamed up to make SAWDUST (pictured above). It placed 2nd in the major theme category at MQS. It won 2nd Place at AQS in Nashville in the major category against 66 other quilts. And at IQA Quilt Festival in Houston it placed 1st place.
Judy has quilted for Mary Sue Suit’s books, Vi Colombe’s award winning quilts, and Joan Davis’s quilting patterns. One of Joan Davis and Judy’s quilts was in the $100,000 Quilting Challenge Magazine for June 2007.
Her Parrot’s Paradise was featured in the AQS’s Quilting Art Engagement calendar 2007. She has over 100 other quilting awards and has become a very sought after quilting teacher. Her students say she is enthusiastic, with creativity being her number one goal. She brings lots of quilts and samples for her classes.
